I am Assistant Professor of Sociology at St. Lawrence University, where I teach and conduct research on environmental and food justice. I hold a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Sociology from the University of Michigan.

I build on critical theory to explore the politics of community engagement, the environment, and social change, and I aspire to support resurgent praxes throughout. I am grateful to collaborate and learn with incredible students, community partners, and research participants in this aim. In addition, I draw on my own experiences with social privilege today against my ancestral lineages of oppression and resistance, including during the Holocaust and as refugees from communist Hungary to the United States.

I grew up in rural New Hampshire and am heavily influenced by place and relations between the environment and human experience. Since childhood, I have been active in nonviolent social justice organizing. My path has brought me into support for first generation communities and groups impacted by addiction, and I pull constructively from this to uplift students and engage in research, as well.
